of the ABC2 was manager of The Coliseum. Welcoming and professional, Alan guided the ABC1 and ABC2 through their best years and made patrons, critics and film stars alike feel at home.
Many of the biggest films played at the ABC2 including Half a Sixpence, a re-release of Gone With the Wind, the disaster movie Earthquake, Paint your Wagon, Superman, Ryan's Daughter, the Godfather films and the Indiana Jones series
Unlike most Glasgow cinemas, the ABC2 avoided the indignity of being hacked about into smaller halls.
Although the big roadshow films for which it was designed gradually dried up the ABC2 remained a comfortable, attractive and spacious venue even if the quality of the film occasionally didn't match the surroundings.
The ABC2 went through the same difficult years and changes of owner as the rest of the ABC Film Centre discussed in more detail in the ABC1 pages and it closed in October 1999.
The cinema's first manager was Alan Dale, who joined Associated British Cinemas in 1948 and for five years prior to the opening
